The U.P. Human Trafficking Task Force, along with Sacred Beginnings, will cohost Three Nights of Hope throughout the Upper Peninsula in the beginning of November.
Human trafficking survivor Leslie King will share her story of what she experienced 30 years ago when she was taken from her home in Lower Michigan to the U.P. during deer hunting season and forced into sex trafficking.
UPHTTF President Stephanie Graef says the goal of the three events is to raise awareness of human trafficking in Upper Michigan and to raise money to build the U.P.’s first shelter for trafficking survivors. Her goal is to raise at least $750,000.
The first Night of Hope will be held in Marquette on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Northern Center in Marquette. The second will be held Nov. 2 at the Bonfire Grill in Houghton. The third will be held at the Walker Cisler Center in Sault Ste. Marie on Nov. 3.
