MARQUETTE, Mich. – United Way of Marquette County proudly introduces this year’s campaign co-chairs: Alyson Sundberg and Megan O’Connor.
Alyson Sundberg is the Market Director of Risk Management for UP Health System Marquette/Bell/Portage. She has a master’s degree in healthcare administration. Sundberg has been with UP Health System for 24 years and has worked with EMS in Marquette County for over thirty years. She is originally from the Ishpeming area and has participated in a variety of service clubs and local organizations. “Watching all of the people in our community contribute their time through Yoopers United or their donations to the various partners within the United Way of Marquette County is so humbling. The amount of care and concern shared is beautiful knowing that everyone is working towards making life a better place for so many.”
Megan O’Connor is the Outreach and Development Specialist at the Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP). She has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Northern Michigan University. Megan spent her early years in Manistique before moving downstate. In 2015, she returned to the Upper Peninsula. In her free time, Megan likes to work and volunteer. When not at the LSCP, she works at WZMQ 19 as a News Contributor, at the Southshore Fishing Association as the Marketing Coordinator, and at St. Peter’s Cathedral as a Cantor. Megan actively participates in Connect Marquette, the Marquette County Veteran Alliance, and loves volunteering for Marquette County-wide events. Megan says, “Serving the Marquette community is an honor and a privilege and, as the youngest UWMC campaign co-chair, I am excited to be a part of the United Way campaign for the 2023-24 season.”
Sundberg and O’Connor have set a campaign goal of $400,000. They will be visiting local workplaces throughout the fall to encourage donations and provide information about the local impact of your donations in our community. If you would like to schedule a visit for your workplace or organization, please contact UWMC Program Coordinator Holly Michelin at 906-226-8171 or hmichelin@uwmqt.org.
