Calling all scuba divers! Marquette’s fifth annual Underwater Cleanup is taking place this weekend.
This Saturday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon, join fellow scuba divers at Mattson Lower Harbor Park. Not a scuba diver? That’s okay – lend a fin or a flipper by joining the surface support team! All you need to do is bring gloves and boots to assist the scuba divers.
The Underwater Cleanup events have removed 12 tons of tires, two refrigerators, many marine and car batteries, and so much more.
As the waters contain less garbage with each passing event, divers will be encouraged to clean the lower harbor and surrounding areas, including the waters in front of Bum’s Beach and Upper Harbor.
