MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A local theatre is bringing back some old comedy to the UP community. It’s a Tony Award-winning comedy show from the 1960s called ‘The Odd Couple’ premiering at the Lake Superior Theatre.
The play is about two men–one divorced who move in together to save money for alimony. The director has only directed one other play in her life and commented that the genre of comedy can be a challenge to act out, but that the two-man show is surely one to see.
“There’s a naturalistic ness that has to happen with comedy as in you’re not able to predict what’s going to happen, you gotta play all the levels all the time. When are we upset? When are we happy? so if there’s any sort of prediction or any sort of delivery that sounds bi-route that doesn’t work in a comedy in real life,” commented Co-Director of “The Odd Couple” Denise Clark.
‘The Odd Couple’ premiers Tuesday at Lake Superior Theatre at 7:30 PM and tickets can be found by clicking here.
