MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The U.P. Children’s Museum opened its doors tonight to host a beach party.
The event was a part of the museum’s second Thursday creativity series. Admission was free for families thanks to museums sponsors and donors. Children and their families were able to enjoy arts and crafts, participate in a mini golf tournament, and cool down with some culver’s custard.
“There’s so many levels to this, I have youth volunteers here, our Guardians of Wow program, so there are children taking charge, setting it up, some of them have designed the activities,” remarked Jim Edwards, the Education Coordinator at the Children’s Museum.
The event is designed to give families a place to have fun together. Edwards says one his favorite parts of second Thursday’s is watching parents and children interact through the provided activities.
During the next second Thursday event on August 10th the children’s museum will host a petting zoo.
