MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Kiwanis Club has announced the best float awards from this years 4th of July parade. With the extra funding from sponsors for this year’s parade, the club decided to award three non-profits and two businesses with awards for their floats.
The top three non profits received donations from the club, The Masonic Arts and the Ahmed Clowns took first place in that category and took home a $500 donation. The Superior Youth Arts Club was awarded $300 for second place, and The Mariucci Family Beacon House was in third with a $200 donation.
The top two businesses received a plaque with Hagerty Construction taking first place and taking home the first Kiwanis Independence Day Parade trophy. The trophy is a new tradition from The Club, it’ll be passed on each year to the new first place winners. Rose’s Dugout took second place in the business category.
Co-Director of the Kiwanis independence day parade, Robert Anderson, said the awards are an incentive for participants, so that the parade can continue to grow for years to come.
“the whole reason for giving out the rewards and the trophy for the businesses is to try to get them to decorate really good,” Anderson said. “Get more involved, get more music, more excitement.”
