BIG BAY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Hundreds of people flocked to Big bay over the weekend to enjoy the town’s 30th annual fire on the bay celebration.
The one day festival included childrens games, raffles, and sorts of family friendly activities. activities concluded on saturday night with a musical performance and a fireworks display.
Attendees were also able to travel back in time to an Early American Encampment thanks to reenactors from the Big Bay Sportsmen Club.
The event was financially supported by fundraisers and donations from local residents and businesses in the area.
“It’s just a weekend thing, Fire on the Bay. It is mainly just on Saturday, it’s not anything huge but it is a big deal for us locals here,” remarked Lauri Shaw, a Board Member on the Powell Township Parks and Recs committee.
Organizers say that the event helps to draw people into the town which has a population of around 500 people.
