REPUBLIC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – The MEDC and Recreation Committee is seeking funding from the community to help build an 18-hole disc golf course in Republic Township.
The goal is to raise $9,000 so the Township can receive a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The committee got approved to build the course, and if the crowdfunding goal is Met by July 31st, the course can be built. If they meet the crowdfunding goal, the course will have 18 full baskets and 2 cement-grounded tee pads per basket.
“Most of your courses are all free to play they’re on public lands, you can play the entire course with one disc, and everywhere you go is unique. Disc Golf just gets so unique to the area that it’s a great thing to see and you can go somewhere and see something new and unique everywhere you go,” said Recreation Committee Vice Chairperson Daniel Roberts.
They’ll be accepting donations up until July 31st. For project details and to donate, click here.
