MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette Mountain will be opening a new disc golf course, continuing its efforts in becoming an all-year-round outdoor recreation area.
9 new disc golf holes were being set up earlier today at the base of the mountain, combining putt-putt with the beauty of art sculptures. The disc golf baskets (picture below) are made with unique sculptures that were curated at an art fair downstate.
This is the course’s first phase, and mountain officials commented that next year, they hope to expand to 18 holes up the mountain, with lift access as well. “We already have the Kayak tours we do on lake superior the guided historic kayak tours we have our volleyball leagues we have our downhill bike park so this is just another way to get people enjoying the outdoors and just enjoying what a jewel Marquette Mountain is for the town,” said Marquette Mountain General Manager Kaet Johnson.
Saturday afternoon, the Mountain will host the course’s launch party. The sculptures will be all set up at the base, and mountain officials said to bring your discs to try out the new course.
