MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On May 15, 2023, the Marquette Breakfast Rotary Club held its grant awards banquet at the Ore Dock Brewery. These grant dollars come from the annual fish boil fundraiser that helps support local community projects, programs, and organizations.
“Once we figure out where we got to spend all that money we put out bids and requests for proposals and individuals will submit anything from very small amounts up to 10 15,000 dollars that they wish to fund projects in the area,” commented Contributions Committee member Jim Cantrill.
Some of the U.P.’s youth organizations awarded on Monday night were Marquette Boy Scouts, the Upper Peninsula Childrens Museum and even programs that aid in youth music programs.
“I think it’s important that as we look at our next generation to make sure we get every kid that wants to be involved in something the opportunity and hopefully they see that you know adults in town that care about their organizations and then when they become adults they’ll get involved in their communities and try to serve and raise money as well,” said Marquette Breakfast Rotary Club President Zac Couvillion.
Proceeds are directed back into the community to worthy programs, projects, and organizations that benefit youth and community improvement. Since 1992, proceeds from the event totaled over $500,000 in community impact.
Marquette Breakfast Rotary’s 2023 Fish Boil will be Saturday, June 17 at 5 p.m. at the Lake Superior Theater. Click here for tickets to the annual Fish Boil.
