MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A popular Marquette event is back after a four year break. Tonight the couples for this years dancing with our stars benefit were announced.
The dancing competition is a benefit for The U.P. Hospice Foundation. Over the past 10 years the benefit has raised around half a million dollars for UP Hospice.
The couples now have three months to fundraise and practice for their final performance. Dancers Jolene Kunde and Josh Thatcher said “I like to embrace the challenges in life as a lot of people know, and we both love to dance so we’re looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to raise some money.”
This years theme is Superhero’s and villains, each couple was assigned a dance style and a character to theme their performance after. Kaylee and Taylor Birmann were hoping to get The Joker and in just a few months the couple will be hip-hop dancing as Harley Quinn and The Joker. The Birmann’s said “We’re surprised but excited, a little nervous. I think more apprehensive at first but being here just kind of settles the nerves a little bit, we’re excited to get started.”
Tickets goon sale March 13th for the final show which will take place on Wednesday, May 24th at 7pm.
