A walk for a cause, an NMU organization held a walkathon today to raise money for a local food pantry.
NMU students and community members gathered at the superior dome for the walkathon, bringing donations to support their cause.
The Student Leaders Fellowship Program, or SLFP is a student run organization that hosts community service projects throughout the year.
This mornings walkathon event raised funds to support the needs of those in our community dealing with food insecurity.
Jackson Kimes, a member of The SLFP, noted that “in terms of The NMU Food Pantry, anyone can go there. So I think by students being the ones kind of spear heading those promotions and spreading that word, it kind of destigmatizes it as well, and it makes it easier for other students or anyone really to go and take advantage of those resources.”
SLFP raised over $70 this morning. Those funds and any other donations will go to benefit the NMU food pantry.
