MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – America Recycle Day is celebrating its 25th year of existence since it began November 15th of 1997.
This year Marquette County Solid Waste Management celebrates America Recycles Day without any onsite injuries while processing over 8500 tons of materials. Bradley Austin Director of Operation for Marquette County Solid Waste Management said they purchased state of the art recycling equipment that has increased production and reduced hazards for employees.
Austin stated that in addition to the new machine they have increased accessibility to remote areas giving everyone the capability to recycle. Austin is passionate about the need for recycling, education and how it has and continues to help everyone.
Bradley Austin said, “The impact on how its affected or protected the environment um there’s a lot of pieces that branch off from America Recycles day but in particular sustainability and protection of environment come to mind.”
To help with recycling education, Recycle 906 has an online tool to learn how to recycle including a list of acceptable items they are able to process.
