MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – November is homelessness awareness month… and with the winter months approaching the need for food and shelter is critical.
Superior Connections Recovery Community Organization has teamed up with Contrast Coffee in Marquette with efforts to raise food and money for the homeless in the area. Canned food and monetary donations are taken at the register for those who would like to participate along with a GoFundMe page. According to the executive director of Superior Connections, there are 11 regular individuals who are displaced without a place to go.
Ryan Redmond, “Homelessness affects everyone in our community because when you are without a home or a safe place to go, you have to find creatively where to go and they find themselves in our libraries, in our restaurants and in our public spaces.”
He says anyone can find themselves in a homeless situation.
Superior Connections’ mission is to give anyone in need, access to support services…. Including homeless shelters.
