HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Houghton man is in custody on suspicion of stealing items from cars in the Houghton area.
The Houghton Police Department said it received complaints about car break-ins and theft at the Gateway Laundromat on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
On Thursday, Sept. 29, at 8:55 a.m. Houghton PD got a call about a man seen in a parking lot at a local business going through cars.
When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old Houghton man in the area and took him into custody. He was taken to the Houghton County Jail for a probation violation.
A search warrant conducted at his home turned up items that were reported stolen.
Houghton PD said charges will be sought for the larcenies. The investigation is ongoing.
