The Supreme Court has officially reversed Roe v. Wade, giving each state individual power to limit, ban or allow abortions. The nonprofit organization Planned Parenthood provides sexual health care nationally and globally, and with this ruling, they had lots to say. President Paula Greear and Dr. Sarah Wallett spoke about their concerns with this ruling.
Roe v. Wade was decided on in 1973 to protect the option for women to choose to have an abortion. A decision that has held for nearly half a century, is no longer.
On Friday after the decision during a Zoom meeting with Planned Parenthood, Dr. Wallett reassured community members still have access to abortions in the state of Michigan.
“To be clear abortion is still legal in Michigan and our doors are still open. But my heart is breaking for the millions of patients living in states that will cut off abortion access today and in the days and weeks to come. Abortion is health care. Not being able to access health care is devastating”.
President of Planned Parenthood of Michigan, Paula Greear knows that they will not stop providing care to those in need. Planned Parenthood is still holding its appointments and is still here for support.
