WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional members left DC this weekend without finalizing a deal to end the Department of Homeland Security shutdown.
Congressional Democrats are pushing for ICE reforms following the shootings in Minneapolis and how the Agency is handling immigration operations.
A White House official told our DC bureau “The White House made another serious counteroffer. Democrats need to make a move to end the shutdown before more Americans are harmed by a lack of funding for critical services like disaster relief.”
Spokespeople for Democratic House and Senate leaders confirmed the counteroffer and said in part “they’re reviewing it closely”.
