WASHINGTON, D.C. – A US district judge rejects a request to block the President’s $400,000,000 ballroom project.
The judge ruled that the National Trust for Historic Preservation, who is trying to stop the construction, didn’t meet the high bar for a preliminary injunction that would halt the project, for now. The President and CEO of the NTHP said while they are disappointed about this latest ruling, they are able to “amend their complaint, specifically to assert that the president has acted beyond his statutory authority” on the ballroom project.
A few months ago, crews demoed the East Wing of the White House to build a 90-thousand square foot ballroom. It’s all funded by private donations. Preservationists argue the project moved ahead without required approvals, an environmental review or authorization by Congress.
