MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A major contribution to the push for the UPHS staffing contract agreements came from hundreds of the residents these hospital workers serve.
The last several months have been filled with rallies and community input, bringing the area together to advocate for the over 600 hospital employees pushing for higher pay, addressing staffing concerns, and stronger insurance plans.
Across the summer, local businesses stepped up for the cause in their own ways, including Signs Unlimited, who recently donated a large banner in proud support.
“The Nurses Union reached out to us for a banner, and we just felt that standing with the community is the best thing we could do, so we decided to donate it to them,” said Signs Unlimited Manager, BreAnna Leanes. “Nurses have always been there for us, so this was just a chance to give back to them.”
The banner can be found in the parking lot of Kognisjon Bryggeri.
