Congressional Members Shocked, Upset about Arson Attack on PA Governor’s Mansion

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Political leaders across the spectrum are upset and shocked about the arson attack at the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion early Sunday morning. The alleged arsonist was arrested. Congressional members said violence is not the answer.

“This kind of violence is becoming far too common in our society,” said Gov. Josh Shapiro (D- PA).

The attack sent shock waves across Pennsylvania and the nation.

“To get into the governor’s mansion, first of all how does that happen,” asked Rep. Mike Kelly (R- PA). “And the governor to my understanding, they were there with their family and were asleep in their home. That’s tragic. That’s totally unacceptable behavior and when it gets to the point we’re no longer surprised by it, then we’re in deeper trouble than I think we realize.”

Rep. Kelly lead the task force investigating the assassination attempts against President Donald Trump, said we should not accept abnormal behavior as the new normal.

“Don’t accept things like this as the way they are,” said Rep. Kelly. “If we do accept that as the new normal that’s really wrong. I don’t care if it’s the Governor or the President or whomever. You can’t have this type of behavior.”

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman (D- PA) wrote on the social media platform X: “This is truly appalling. Profoundly grateful that the governor and his family are unharmed, and grateful for the police and first responders for their quick actions. Whoever did this must be held to the fullest extent of the law.”

Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick (R- PA) also shared his concerns on social media. He wrote on X: “The horrific attack against the governor and his family is terrible. This type of violence cannot be tolerated and the criminals responsible must be prosecuted for these deplorable actions.”

The President, who has faced two assassination attempts, is also condemning the attack.

“The attacker basically wasn’t a fan of anybody,” said President Trump. “It’s probably just a whack job, and certainly a thing like that cannot be allowed to happen.”
