Marquette, Mich. – Throughout the month of November, U.P. Home Health & Hospice is joining organizations across the nation hosting activities in recognition of National Care at Home Month and honoring “Marquette County Hospice Month.” The focus is to demystify the word ‘Hospice’ and its association with end-of-life care. Hospice is about LIVING with a life-limiting diagnosis, and it is about LIVING with Palliation, Education, Empowerment, and Priorities. Hospices ensure that pain management, therapies, and treatments all support a plan of care that is centered on the person’s goals. Hospice care also provides emotional support and advice to help family members become confident caregivers and adjust to the future with one-on-one grief counseling and grief support groups for up to 13 months after the passing of their loved one.
World of Angels is part of an educational and awareness campaign by U.P. Home Health & Hospice and the U.P. Hospice Foundation. “The idea behind it is that SO many people are involved in Hospice Care, from the doctors, the nurses, the care aides, bereavement counselors, and more,” states Jennie Garrett-Bureau, CEO/Administrator of U.P. Home Health & Hospice. “But Hospice is about more than just the clinical team- it’s about YOU, the family, the friends, and the community members that are consistently caring for a loved one. They are all angels on earth. So, for the month of November and during these challenging times, we want you to look around and see that you, too, Live in a World of Angels.”
Spearheaded by the ‘Angel Committee,’ U.P. Home Health & Hospice has partnered with 21 local businesses to host the beautiful displays throughout the county.
