Semi driver arraigned on OWI charge, out on bond

L’ANSE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The driver of a semi that crashed into a gas station in L’Anse late Thursday night, killing a 43-year-old L’Anse man at the pump, is free on bond after his arraignment in Baraga County District Court Monday morning.

Dawaun Johnson, 22, is charged with OWI causing death.

Dawaun Johnson, a 22 year old from Illinois, is charged with operating while intoxicated causing death.

According to the Baraga County District Court clerk, Johnson posted a $100,000 surety bond at his arraignment.

Johnson’s next court appearance is set for November 8.
