Manistique summer events expected to draw tourists and promote community

MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The City of Manistique is gearing up for a busy summer.

The city has a full calendar of events, including the Wednesday Farmer & Artisan Market and the Music in Manisitque concert series, which will also take place on Wednesdays beginning June 18. This year’s Independence Day celebration is planned for July 5, and it is expected to draw a large crowd.

One of Schoolcraft County’s biggest annual events is Folk Fest, which is scheduled for July 11 and 12. According to Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce Executive Director Victoria George, Folk Fest is projected to feature about 85 vendors and bring as many as 9,000 people to South Cedar Street.

“Our hotels are booked, campgrounds are booked during these events, our restaurants are full, stores are being shopped,” George said. “It makes a big impact, attracting tourists to our community, and our residents also come out and support it, which is wonderful also.”
