Innovate Marquette hosts annual Women in Entrepreneurship event, expands opportunities

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Wednesday, Innovate Marquette hosted its annual Women in Entrepreneurship event at NMU’s Northern Center. However, the group has a new lineup of events on its calendar this year.

This year’s Women in Entrepreneurship was slightly different. In prior years, it has been an evening event. It wasn’t until last year that the event was moved to earlier in the day. This year was a breakfast with a discussion lecture from Lane Clark.

A new addition this year, Innovate Marquette is hosting quarterly coffee and conversation meetings, which are open to all. The purpose of the events is to provide a space for any woman to find resources, help, and support from a community that has been in similar situations.

“That’s a really big factor in the women in entrepreneurship for us is knowing we can bring someone on stage to talk about what they’ve been through because we know entrepreneurship is not easy it is a long road and having someone be able to share what they’ve been through really does help other people and guide them through their own experiences,” said Aubrey Healy, Innovate Marquette outreach and engagement manager.

The main Women in Entrepreneurship event is yearly, plus the new quarterly coffee and conversation meetings. For information on either event and on how to get involved, visit to the Innovate Marquette website.
