McCoy Construction & Forestry cuts ribbon on new Escanaba facility

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – After seven years of business in Escanaba, a regional heavy equipment dealer has moved to an updated facility.

On Thursday, McCoy Construction & Forestry held a ribbon cutting for its new location at 6442 US-2 & 41 & M35. The move from McCoy’s previous, smaller building has been in the works for about two years.

“It was a little dated,” said McCoy President Jeff Herkert. “Our equipment’s getting bigger every year, and it’s been there for a long time and served us well. Also for employee retention and recruiting, a nice state-of-the-art facility is what we need.”

The new facility can house larger equipment, includes an indoor wash bay, and features an increased product inventory for customers. Additionally, Herkert says it offers a cleaner storefront and a safer employee environment.

Herkert believes this move further cements McCoy’s role within Delta County and the surrounding area.

“We’ve been around here for a long time—this team has been,” he said. “It’s a long-tendered team. We’re a pillar, I think, in the community for the construction and definitely the forestry business. I believe it will have a pretty good impact on everyone.”

After the ribbon cutting, the Delta County Chamber of Commerce, two members of the County Board of Commissioners, and other community leaders got to tour the new space. McCoy Construction & Forestry administrators and staff then enjoyed lunch with attendees.
