Female passenger dies in Chippewa County crash after her driver ran a stop sign

RUDYARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A woman died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon after the driver of the car she was in failed to stop at a stop sign.

Michigan State Police says happened around 1:30 p.m. in Rudyard Township. A preliminary investigation showed the driver of a Subaru didn’t stop at a stop sign and was hit by a UPS truck.

The driver of the Subaru received minor injuries and was lodged pending a review from the prosecutor. Two passengers were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. CPR was performed on a third female passenger, who was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The UPS driver was uninjured and released at the scene.

No names have been released pending family notification. The investigation is ongoing pending a medical examiner report.
