One dead after motorcycle, Iron Mountain city mower collide

IRON MOUNTAIN. Mich. (WZMQ) – An Iron Mountain man is dead after his motorcycle collided with an Iron Mountain city mower Tuesday afternoon.

The Michigan State Police say it happened at 3:43 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Antoine Rd. and E. Grand Blvd in the City of Iron Mountain.

A 34-year-old Iron Mountain man on a motorcycle was riding eastbound when he struck a City of Iron Mountain Public Works mower, operated by a city employee, crossing the roadway.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet but suffered fatal injuries. The operator of the mower was uninjured.

Excessive speed is believed to be a factor. An investigation is ongoing.

MSP was assisted at the scene by the Iron Mountain Police Department, Dickinson County Sheriff Department, Iron Mountain Fire Department, and Integrity Ambulance.
