May Basket Day brought to the UP

Today is May Basket Day, a tradition in many parts of the world where people fill baskets with treats and then take each one to a desired recipient’s home, knock on the door, and yell “May Basket!” while running away.

To honor this day, we delivered 300 baskets to senior residents in our community.

Surprising them all, we went to Jacobetti and were met by Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Johnson who told us, “This was a really fun surprise today. Just learned about May Day and baskets and had no idea, so when the May Baskets arrived, it’s going to be a really wonderful surprise for our veteran members on a snowy blizzardy day.”

With the generosity of many local businesses, organizations, and individual contributors, this kind of surprise activity was made possible.

Quite grateful, Johnson told us, “We really love opportunities to collaborate with our community and its wonderful to have their support, when it is year-round, especially when it’s a surprise on a day, like today. ”

Deliveries were made to Jacobetti, Brookridge Heights, Norlite, And Mill Creek.

Special thanks to those who contributed and made this possible.
