Willy Schmitt joined WZMQ 19 News in 2023 as a multimedia journalist and technical director.
Willy graduated from Northern Michigan University in fall 2022 with a degree in multimedia production. In his time at NMU, Willy spent three years playing for the Wildcats football team and spent one year working as Head of Film for the ‘Cats. Willy also spent a semester as an intern for the award winning Public Eye News at WNMU-TV.
Outside work, Willy enjoys mountain biking and filming videos for his personal YouTube channel. He also enjoys devoting time to helping out with his best friend’s film business “mXs Productions”.
