ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Tuesday, the sounds of summer filled the Bay College courtyard.
Bay’s Lunchtime Live! concert series has returned for another year. Area musicians perform outside from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on select Tuesdays. The shows are open to the public, and attendees can bring a meal or purchase lunch from food trucks or the Taco Kitchen inside Café Bay. Food trucks are on site from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Organizers say Lunchtime Live! adds some excitement to the campus during its slower months.
“We don’t have any classes happening so it’s pretty quiet, so this is a great way to get our local community on campus during the summer,” said Bay College Events, Communications, and Alumni Coordinator Kaylee Hubert. “It’s free for the public. Bring your own chairs or we’ve got plenty of chairs here as well. [It’s] a good day for food and music and being outside enjoying good company.”
Local band Pickstop kicked off the series this year and last year. Band member Brayden Mathias says it is an opportunity for the group to reach new listeners.
“It was just super fun last year, so it was a big reason I wanted to come back and do it,” he said. “The sound system [Bay] sets up for us is great, and they advertise us on the signs and everything. People don’t have to pay to get in or anything, so it’s super nice for people to be able to show up and for us to be exposed to a new group of people.”
