IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is introducing a free weekly check-in service for veterans called Early Alert.
The program is designed to provide quick and helpful support to veterans by addressing potential challenges they may be facing. Early Alert operates through text messages that check in with veterans about key aspects of their well-being, including sleep, health, relationships, and financial concerns. If any issues are identified through these check-ins, the program connects veterans to the appropriate resources for assistance. This includes access to 24/7 crisis counseling for those in need of immediate support.
One of the standout features of Early Alert is its accessibility. Veterans do not need to download an app or own a smartphone to participate in the program.
