MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Ishpeming man has once again been arrested after new investigations into alleged sexual conduct.
On May 6, the Michigan State Police (MSP) announced 34-year-old Gerald Burton’s prior arrests linked to two investigations, which resulted in felony sexual conduct charges issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor and his arraignment in 96th District Court.
In an initial press release, Michigan State Police asked that anyone with additional information contact them. Following that release and subsequent coverage by local media, two previously unknown victims came forward and spoke with MSP detectives. MSP investigations have resulted in further felony criminal sexual conduct charges being issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor.
On May 22, Burton was arraigned in the 96th District Court on one count of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. His bond was set at $20,000. That same day, Burton was arraigned for a second time in the 96th District Court on an additional charge resulting from a separate investigation. This new charge was also one count of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. His bond was once again set at $20,000. Burton’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 12.
This brings the current total to four separate cases, resulting in a combined total of seven counts of criminal sexual conduct of multiple degrees.
MSP believes there still may be other victims, witnesses, or individuals with additional information. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the MSP Negaunee Post at 906-475-9922.
