NMU to decide on DEI future

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – In the wake of the University of Michigan terminating its DEI initiatives, as a result of President Trump’s executive orders that threaten to cut off federal funding for colleges that do not remove DEI. As a result, more and more universities are doing away with their DEI programs. Closer to home, NMU officials are still reviewing their options.

A statement from NMU’s president’s office reads:

“The executive orders issued by President Trump and recently issued district court injunctions are under review by university leadership.

This is a dynamic situation with further guidance expected, as well as legal challenges to certain aspects of the executive orders and court proceedings.

The university is following these developments closely”.
