UPDATE: Teen cited for semi rollover crash in Ely Township

ELY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – UPDATE 7/16/24: The 17-year-old girl involved in the semi rollover crash in Ely Township Monday morning was cited for failing to yield.

The driver of the semi is identified as 44-year-old Nicholas Hamari. He was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries at UPHS – Marquette.

Original story 7/15/24:

At approximately 11:25 on Monday morning, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a two vehicle personal injury crash on US-41 near County Road 478 in Ely Township.

A 17-year-old female of Marquette was traveling north on Co. Rd. 478 when she failed to stop while entering on US-41, and crashed into a tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer, driven by a 44-year-old man from Marquette, lost control and overturned.

The driver of the tractor trailer was taken by ambulance to UPHS-Marquette for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.

Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted on the scene by Ishpeming Township Police, Ishpeming Township Fire/EMS, UPHS-Marquette, Antilla’s Towing, and Crossroads Towing.
