Bear sightings reported in the city of Houghton

HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – The City of Houghton announced Wednesday morning that they have received several calls and reports of a bear sighting within the city limits.

According to the city, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has been notified of the sightings as well. The DNR is requesting that residents in the city take down any bird feeders that they have for approximately one week, as the bear will move on if it has no food source.

If anyone has any concerns, they should reach out to the Michigan DNR.

WZMQ will continue to monitor this story and update it as more information becomes available.
