WHITMORE LAKE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Michigan Tech University student died in a house explosion Saturday in Lower Michigan.

The Dean of Students confirms Kenny Bragg was one of four people who died in the explosion on Dec. 30 in Whitmore Lake. Kenny was a senior at Tech majoring in Anthropology. He was also a member of the Huskies Pep Band.

Also killed in the explosion were Kenny’s parents, Don and Hope, who were both alumni of Michigan Tech, and one of Kenny’s siblings. Two others survived, including one of Kenny’s brothers.

According to local media, police say no foul play is suspected in the incident.

A vigil is planned for Monday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Husky statue on Michigan Tech’s campus. The university is encouraging students and faculty to reach out to MTU’s counseling services if they need support during this time.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a family member for the surviving child, Stephen.
