Portage Health Foundation awards 49 AEDs across the Copper Country

HANCOCK, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Portage Health Foundation has supplied automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, to 49 locations around Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga, and Ontonagon Counties.

The AEDs were awarded to organizations who applied to a one-time grant opportunity that was announced in late 2022.

PHF said the awards were given due to a great need in the community for them. PHF said cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.
