Most Roadside Parks to Reopen Thursday

Most of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) roadside parks will reopen for the season Thursday, April 28.

However, the following roadside parks in the Upper Peninsula will remain closed until later in the spring due to the weather. MDOT plans to reopen these parks in mid-May:

Alger County

Baraga County

Keweenaw County

Luce County

Schoolcraft County

Some parks operate seasonally, closing in late October and reopening in the spring.

Drivers should not expect drinking water at all parks to be turned on until late May after park water systems undergo testing and treatment.

The St. Ignace Rest Area on southbound I-75 will be closed until early May due to construction.
